The weather has been especially dark and depressing this week. I feel like we never really get much of a fall here in Portland, it very quickly transitions from cheery summer sun to rainy, lugubrious grey days that make me want to stay indoors. You would think I’d be used to this seasonal transition by now since I’ve lived in Portland my whole life, but I’m not. These gloomy days make me feel a little glum, maybe it’s the constant sky water that makes me feel slightly sad & lonely, or maybe that’s just hormones….
But enough of that, let’s talk positives of fall!
Beautifully-colored leaves on the trees, spiced cider, pumpkin everything, Halloween, red wine, snuggling in a pile of blankets, cinnamon whiskey, cozy movie nights, football, and fall fashion… Boots, sweaters, peacoats, scarves, chunky knits, tons of layers…. *insert heart eye emoji here*
I was shopping for a wedding present last weekend and found myself in one of my favorite boutiques, Francesca’s. I stopped in for a minute, not planning on buying anything, but then this striped 90’s-esque turtleneck sweater tank caught my eye and I had to have it. I remember back when I was in high school you wouldn’t have caught me dead in a turtleneck, but now I love the stylish trend. And with such a great soft color palette & layerable silhouette, this tank is a staple all year round. (In picture below, I layered a black long sleeve underneath for warmth).
Here’s a few different ways I’ve worn the tank already:
On Sunday I went to see the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” with my mom and paired the tank with sapphire blue pants from H&M (similar ones here), black Chelsea booties (which I bought at Trend Shoes, but you can find here at ZooShoo.com) and my favorite leather jacket, bought at Sloan Boutique.
I couldn’t get enough, so I also wore the tank to work this week. This time I layered a very cozy oversized taupe cardigan from Tobi (similar here) with a faux-leather jacket on top, black skinny pants from H&M and fantastic strappy plum booties by Wild Diva, which are no longer available but I bought at Platform on NW 23rd.
On the bright side, maybe all these rainy fall days are good for my blog productivity, otherwise I’d constantly want to be outside. I’m also so excited because I’m receiving a new toy this weekend that will make all of these blog photos 100x better….. I got a new camera, yay!
