Most people wake up & just ‘get dressed.’ I wake up and determine what I want my mood/vibe to be for the day, then go through quite a process of carefully curating an outfit. It’s not just something I do because I have to, it’s something I get a lot of enjoyment out of, something that gets me excited to take on the day.
I love working for a company where I can dress up or dress down as much as I desire. Let’s be honest, fashion can be painful and it’s not everyday that I chose to be comfortable over being stylish and chic. But last week I put together an outfit that is both functional and fabulous and I loved it so much I had to share.
My eye is so aesthetically pleased when an outfit perfectly color-coordinates and every piece in this ensemble does just that. This long-sleeved crop top sweater is actually made by Nike (N T / F = Nike Track & Field), but it’s very unassuming because there’s not a swoosh to be found on the exterior. The back is completely mesh, a simple, beautiful design element that makes the top feel like coveted street wear rather than a boring sweat shirt. On bottom I chose a pair of loose-fitting pleather black pants that have a jogger-esque vibe but are more dressy. These pants are great, they can be worn casually or formally depending on the other outfit components.
I’ve had this amazing lightweight iridescent jacket collecting dust in my closet since my trip to Hawaii back in April. As eye-catching as it is, it’s actually poorly designed and clearly wasn’t wear-tested, since the iridescent glittery application is coming off after only a few wears (I bought it at Forever 21, I should have known). However, it makes a great head-turning belt-like accessory tied around the waist. To tie the whole look together I wore my turquoise/volt Air Max’s – these were the first pair of Nike shoes I purchased as an employee 3+ years ago, and they’re still my favorite sneakers I own. I also recently got my ears re-pierced and I’m so excited to be able to wear earrings again, so chose to rock a pair of over-sized hoop earrings to make the sporty look feel slightly more glamorous.
