Pretty in Pink Pants

How sporty satin pants can go from daytime casual to nighttime luxe.

One of my latest style obsessions is metallic satin pants. A trend that I predict will gain in popularity throughout the next year, they kept popping up on my Instagram feed so I had to get myself a pair. After browsing a few of my favorite online shops, I chose to add these satin salmon-colored joggers from Romwe to my wardrobe. For the price (I bought them using an additional coupon code for only $12.99), these pants were well worth the purchase. They’re lightweight, very comfortable and fit my body nicely – I was a little worried about them highlighting my problem areas, thankfully they don’t cling to my thighs. I love the eye-catching color, which changes slightly in different lighting (as you can see in the photos below) and how easily this silhouette can transition from daytime sporty-casual to nighttime luxe by simply swapping out sneakers for heels and layering with a jacket.

My daytime casual look consists of only three pieces – a black hooded sweatshirt with snakeskin reflective sleeves that I cut to be cropped, my new satin pants and matching pink high-top Air Force 1’s. While being stylish and a little flirty, this outfit is also functional and effortless. I could run errands all day in this ensemble. And say I had plans to meet friends later in the evening for drinks and didn’t have time to change? I would exchange my sneakers for a pair of heels, like these black chunky platforms from Public Desire (similar here), and throw on a structured jacket, like this gorgeous olive suede biker jacket which is surprisingly from Forever 21 (similar here).

There’s a lot of juxtaposition in my nighttime outfit. Wearing military green with soft pink is uncommon and visually contrasting. Along with that, pairing a sophisticated jacket silhouette with playful sporty bottoms and bold, badass black heels is a daring move. Mixing sporty-casual attire with unexpected fashion-forward pieces may seem unusual, but it can be done. It will be fun finding other creative ways to style my new favorite pants.
